Getting here
Tysnes is an island municipality in the heart of Sunnhordland, surrounded by beautiful fjords on all sides. We are connected by two ferry routes and also have a bridge to the mainland. Come by car or by boat - you are guaranteed a wonderful experience!
WITH CAR
If you are coming from the north (Bergen/Os), take the ferry from Halhjem to Våge. The crossing takes about 35 minutes.
If you are coming from the south (Stord), take the ferry from Jektevik to Hodnanes. The crossing takes about 10 minutes.
If you are coming via Kvinnherad or the southern part of Bjørnafjorden, you can drive without taking a ferry - over the Lukksund bridge.
WITH YOUR OWN BOAT
Tysnes is a holiday paradise for seafarers, and we have idyllic guest harbors waiting for you.
WITH EXPRESSBOAT
The Hardangerfjord Express (Hardangerfjordekspressen) has a stop at Malkenes - you can travel here from Bergen, Flesland, Os, and Rosendal. This is a comfortable and pleasant way to travel if you have a bicycle with you or have arranged for transportation when you arrive.
WITH BUS
It is easy to take the bus to the two ferry connections linked to Tysnes, especially from Bergen to Halhjem. There is also a bus from Gjermundshamn (Kvinnherad) to Tysnes.
There are some bus routes on Tysnes aswell, but it is best to arrange other transportation on the island.
